i have three files that i need to put into an access database and it dont except the file extensions any help on how i would get these files into a data base would be greatly appreciated.
the file extensions are
.HDR
.ENT
.ITM
when i try to export them it wont send the data

I have no idea what the actual file formats are, but have you tried renaming your files -- changing the extension prior to trying your export/import?

[Note on terminology: "Export" to Access implies that you are trying to use another application to put your data into an Access-readable format. "Import" to Access implies that you are trying to use Access to put your data into an Access-readable format. Which you try makes a difference because different programs can have different capabilities.]

Since I don't know from your post how you are trying to get the data into Access, I'll just talk about importing now. I know Access and a lot of other tools, but I don't know what other tolls you might be using or have access to.

Not all formats can be imported automatically by Access, but if these files are, say, just text files (or any other type that can be imported into Access) with other extensions, then renaming them should certainly do the trick! ... assuming that the extensions are causing the problem ...

You might also try some intermediate formats if you need to. Maybe format A can't be translated directly into format B, but maybe you can translate format A into format C, then translate the result into format B. Depending on the formats involved, some information may or may not be lost. But in some cases, getting some of your information across automatically is still a big time saver!

In the worst case, can you copy and paste via the system clipboard (or, if you're using a Mac, whatever it may be called on the Mac these days)?

(Your final approach will of course depend on your needs, including: How exact/complete does your import need to be? How automatic does it need to be? How many times.how often will you have to move the data?)

It's been some months since you posted, but perhaps this will still help you or someone else in the future. -- C Vigil =)

Just came across another thread that seems to answer your question. Rather than copying it all here, I'll post the title and thread number:
