File Download

I want visiters to my site to have the option to be able to download either a Word or Adobe Acrobat file.

The problem I have is that the link to the file wants to open it rather than give me the "File Download" window with the usual "Open this file" or "Save this file...." options.

I have temporarily got around this by using Winzip, but it's not ideal for my purposes.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated

If you are a hot windows programmer you could use an active x call - but that won't work for users with active x disabled and that is a big proportion.

Zipping the file is the only solution. You could put a note next to the link telling the user to click to view or right click and select "save target as" to download.

No good solutions here. Peace
