I have a DELL Ultrium 100GB. The tape handles 100 GB unconmpressed and 200GB compressed. I am using Veritas 9.1. I would like to know what is the method to do a 200GB compressed? How do I do a 200GB compressed backup?
Thank you in advance for your help

When you create the backup job you will be able to select compression by hardware, software, or none. Hardware is usually best.

That being said, there is no guarantee as to how much commpression you will actually get. If you back up a bunch of .jpg or .zip files (which are aleady LZW compressed) they can come out larger after the second compression.

You can count on fitting 100GB on the tape, anything else is gravy.

Thanks LawnBoy. I really appreciate your help. I will try it..
