Hello:
Does any one know what opens EXE's??? I try to open IE6 setup file which is any EXE and works open it up !!!! I can not find out what opens it to re assoc it???
Thanks Icon58

What do you mean? What happens when you try to open it? Also, what kind of icon appears with the filename?

Did you download this off the web? If so, you might redownload it. If it didn't come from microsoft, you might scan it for virus too.

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

Is this the only (I.E.) that is blocked? If so, use "CWShredder". If many ".exe", run a good virus check, there are virii that stop ".exe" from running.

Nope no virus's Whats CWshredder ???? It looks like some one associcated the exe with the WORKS program. So when you try to run it it will open works. I just need to know how to re assocate with the program that does that....
Thanks Icon58

TweakUI I thought has a option to repair associations, you can get it here, as well as install instructions. When done, go to Control Panel > TweakUI, look for the Repair tab, and look for your option...

You might also just boot to dos, and run the following command

scanreg /fix

Any idea if this just started, or how long its been this way? You can usually repair associations by going to Explorer > Tools (or in some Windows, under View) > Folder Options. There is a file types tab, but on the 2000 PC I'm at, I don't see EXE in the list.
