Hi,

Could someone please tell me whereabouts in the REGISTRY I can change the application association for a specified file extension.

I need to associate .JPG with windows Imaging.

Thanks

- Open a Windows Explorer Windows or My Computer, click on Tools, Folder Options

- Select the File Types tab

- Find the associated file type .JPG in the extentions column

- Click the CHANGE button

- Select Imaging in the selections it gives you.

If that don't work, you can DELETE the JPG extention and then double-click on a JPG file. It will open the Extention Association box and you can then select Imaging (for Windows) and make sure the check mark is selected to "Remember" the file association.

"In space, nobody can hear you click..."

The correct term on the checkbox is:

"Always use this program to open these files".

Make sure it's enabled and it will always open with the same software.

Hi ReddLefty

Thanks, but I would like to know where this information is stored in the registry.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ .jpg

But it will also hide in other areas. I learned not to mess with the extentions in the registry.

You can simply do a search for all that matches JPG in the registry (Start/Run/REGEDIT or REGEDT32).
