File already open by the same user.

I have copied files from a computer that has crashed to a new hard drive. When I open a Word or Excel sheet the error comes up "This Document is open or in use do you want to save a copy of this document?". It isn't. This the only place it is open.

I have removed the bad drive and shut the computer it is on off but I still get this error. This is happening on on 2 different computers. What can I do to stop this?

Easiest way? Just say "Yes". Save it as a "copy" and Word will happy.
