When I open a MS word doc I get the message stating that the doc is allready open and asks if I would like to make a copy. the problem is that it gives a user name who has the doc open and it is me.

I am using windows 2000 with office 97.

Any suggestions welcome.

Hi Marzy,
I have seen this many times. With Office 97 it was because the service pack was corrupt. It worked fine once I re-installed the latest SP. With Office 2000 and the latest service pack, I had to run the unreg/reg command from the run command. This can be used for any of the office components. Just replace Winword with Excel or with MSaccess. Example("Winword /unregserver" then run it again using "Winword /regserver").

Goodluck,
