When building a project in FoxPro 2.6 for Windows, I keep getting the File Access Denied error. I've checked the attributes of the relevant design elements, and none of them are read-only.

Any ideas what I can do?

Thanks rgbean. It looks like I'm using GENSCRN not GENSCRNX. I'm a bit new to this so need a little more help. As I'm using Build Project/Executable from FPW 2.6, what do I need to do to make FPW use GENSCRNX instead of the GENSCRN it currently uses?

Danny,
You don't NEED GENSCRNX, it's just that if you were using it, you'd need the update. GENSCRNX allowed the addition of some interesting capabilities, including 3D effects, Tabs (like a VFP PageFrame), class-like behavior, drag-and-drop features, etc. These were all very "cool" back 6 to 9 years ago, but they are pretty primitive compared to VFP 7.0/8.0's capabilities.

The only other idea I have on your problem is, if the files are on a network drive, make sure you have the "rights" necessary. If the files are local, make sure you don't have any of them open in another copy of FPW - or even in another application.

Danny,
File access denied is typically error,
if application run in another window
(it is not possible rewrite running application)

Many thanks to both. It turns out that rgbean is nearly right! The files are all network based, but the 'sharing' problem was due to the GENSCRN program and not to the screens that had been changed (

Thanks again for your help.

Danny
