Just upgraded a customers IP406 V2 from 3.1.65 to latest V5 as want to add a SIP conference device, and after upgrading remembered that they are using a feature key server... There is an alarm in system status regarding not being about to reach the feature key server (PC is actually down currently) but the voicemail pro license is showing as valid and voicemail type is showing as voicemail pro in system status, so is the feature key server not needed??

My vague memory on the matter was that you needed a dongle in the back of the 406 if not using a feature key server/USB dongle??

VM Pro will drop off eventually, it needs a licence dongle, best bet is you source a serial dongle and stick it in the back (after the licence swap obviously) :)

Ah, as I thought... 60 days till it does I assume?

Tell me I can safely downgrade it all back to 3.1 in the meantime? :)

Couple of hours.... it should be anyway, sometimes it lasts longer (not a full day though). But not 60 days, never has been :)

Just boot up the PC with the KeyService and licenses will become valid again.
I don't think you still can buy a serial dongle from Avaya.

BTW VMPro stops two hours after the first answered call... but if you only use voicemail boxes then you can consider to install VMlite.

I have found a dongle in my garage, but I need my disti to check what licenses are on it. If it has VM PRO then they can have it and no swap required.

Will 3.1 feature key and VM Lite work on v5 though?

Feature keys aren't release specific, you should still get the up to date feature key driver on R5, if not just fire up the PC, the original should still validate in theory :)
