I used fdisk to partition some drives in a Win2k install but after I messed around a little I wanted to change them around. I have a primary partition and a extended partition set up but when I go and try to delete the extended partition it says: Cannot delete Extended Dos Partition while logical drives exist. When I go to the option to delte the logical drives it says: No logical drives defined, All logical Drives deleted in the extended Dos Partition. When I load Win2k set up it says that I have an 8MB and a 300MB unformatted partition along with the Primary and extended. How can I get these deleated so I can combine them into one of the other partitions? Thanks

Try using W2k setup to del your actual partitions, and then create a new one.

Can you go back and just fdisk again, wipe it clean and try again? Glen A. Johnson

Delete Non-DOS partition first in FDISK, then delete Extended partitions and Primary partitions, then you can recreate Primary and use as much space as you like.

And to think, it's all just 1s and 0s.

I am loading up W2k on the primary partition right now and I'm going to try and do it through windows but it's still confusing. I've never had this happen before. I delete all Non-DOS partitions and when I display partition information it only shows the primary and extended. It doesn't show the 8MB and the 3GB(actually) partition at all in fdisk, however it does show in W2k set-up when asking which drive to install to. I can delete the primary partition in fdisk but whenever I try to delete the extended it still says can't delete while logical drives exist but there are no logical drives defined???? Is is possible to combine the 8MB and 3GB drives inside of disk manager???? Thanks
