Fax using message manager

I can receive inbound faxes to any audix subscriber that i activate, but how can send outbound faxes to an off campus fax?
I've tried using the suffix number@fax, but keep getting failed transmission (reason = not enabled for this media). Is there a server install that requires a modem/fax card to do this?
Anyone have some input on how I can send outbound, offcampus faxes with message manager?

Fax-enabled

Capable of supporting the optional fax feature. Subscribers need three things to be fax-enabled for Message Manager: (1) a fax-enabled Avaya messaging server such as INTUITY AUDIX Release 4 or later, (2) fax permission assigned to their mailbox, and (3) the Message Manager fax software installed on their computer in order to create fax messages."

Check for this in Message Manager: Click 'Tools', 'Options', click the 'Fax' tab, check to make sure that 'Audix Server Status' says 'Fax Enabled' and the next line of 'Mailbox Status' says 'Fax Enabled'. But I think both of them already are from what you have said.

Yes PBXTech- when i pull up tools>options>fax it displays audix server status: fax enabled, mailbox status: fax enabled, fax prefix: not administered. How can I administer a fax prefix? Perhaps this is why I cannot send off-campus faxes

"To send a fax outside the messaging system, type the prefix (if needed) followed by the complete telephone number. For example, you might type a prefix of 201 (for the area code) followed by a phone number of 5551234. Contact your system administrator to find out prefix information and whether or not your Avaya messaging server allows outside or long-distance fax calls."

I bet your Intuity doesn't allow outside or long-distance fax calls.

look at 'cha sys feat' in the Intuity and look for Faxing or a changeable feature.

I went here and found nothing about faxing except for a fax print destination prefix, i used 3 and will now play around to see if this makes a diff with message manager. Could it be that my audix will not allow outside fax calls, but does allow outcalling when a message in vmail? I can fwd messages that are left in my vmail to external numbers.
