FAx in Notes

We are going to install our mail in a Domino System. We are also interested in sending fax from our client computers. Do we need any additional product for doing it?

Yes, you need an additional product for sending faxes from Notes. Generally these products contain design elements (fax forms) you integrate into the mail template for the user to work with and they contain a user administration database where you can assign fax extensions for the Notes users. You also need a connector to the FaxServer itself which manages the fax-traffic between incoming and outgoing faxes.

We currently use caesar for Lotus Notes which personally I can't recommend as the administration of the fax numbers is directly integrated into the names.nsf of our server which means you have to change the standard template of your names.nsf (in the long run we are going to switch to a new product - probably mrs). There are a lot of products on the market. If you plan to implement a unified messaging solution some time in the future you should opt for a software that can cope not only with faxes but also with voicemails etc.
