I recently reed other solutions to this error message. As with all things there is a "BUT" the status for this one is 0xc000034 (0x000 ... The usual one that I am seeing is one with a status of 0XC000017 not the 0XC000034. Any ideas on what this means or where I can get info on this? Thanks alot.

i have a status of 0xc0000006 (0x77f60b69 0x0015f65c). Does anyone have any ideas of how to fix this problem??

Unfortunatly, that those posts didnt help. The message

STOP: x000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Unhandled Exception in Session Manager system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x0000006 (0x77f60b69 0x0015f65c).
The system has been shut down.

appeared while i was trying to run virus scan on a system using windows PE based on XP Pro. It was using McAfee gui virus scanner. Is it possible that the HDD is dying?
Thanks, any help is appreciated.

scan on a system using windows PE based on XP Pro" Not exactly sure what you mean by that?

Try Safe Mode and the "Last known good configuration" option.

An easy to follow recovery console description when unable to start computer due to corrupt registry.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP (Q315341)

If you are worried about your hard drive, running ChkDsk /r from the Recovery Console is an option.
Also your drive manufacturer will have free diagnostic software for checking the drive.

A little bit of general information here.

Windows Pre Enviroment is a diagnostic tool, it is an os in itself, contained on a cd. The version i am using is based on Windows XP Pro. I think i have fixed the problem by formatting the HDD.

What I couldn't fathom was if PE crashed where was the real XP, and was that crashing too?

I was running the scan through PE because the regular windows was hit and miss on boot up. I just reloaded the machine, now everything seems to be ok, thus far.
But yes, regular windows was crashing.
