I have a user receiving a fatal exception oe 0028:c027a3da Vxd VREDIR(05)+ 0003da. This error is when they try to browse a specific mapped drive. They also experience degraded system performance browsing any other drive.(network and local) User is running a Compaq EXD 800mhz with 128 meg ram. User is at remote location on a frame to our office so troubleshooting is a bit difficult.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are they using Windows 95 or Windows 98? Dont laugh people there are still network admins who will not use Win98 on their networks) James Collins

They're using Win98se, sorry.

And the Novell angle is something I have to check. Our primary Logon in the main office is Novell (for another month) but the remote office is all MS. I know the PC's image had Novell installed and I'm not sure if it's been uninstalled. I'll make sure it's been done.

If the "Client for Novell Networks" is installed with the MS client, and there is NO Novell server then that could be causing the error. James Collins

I checked the Novell angle and Novell has been completely removed using the novell uninstall program. The entire story is pretty involved, but here it goes. The remote user is on a trusted domain connected through frames. The user has a static IP as do all of the users in that domain. They are on the same subnet as our domain. All network settings are the same on all machines except IP address.

The user brought his PC here and I switched it to our domain and had no problems. I checked the pc from top to bottom and discovered nothing out of the ordinary. Now when the user took the PC back, they still have the browsing slowdown but now they're also recieving fatal exceptions in explorer.exe.
