I noticed that one of the computers at the company that I work for has it's hard drive configured for NTFS and the operating system that it is using is Windows XP.

I thought that NTFS should be used for computers running Windows NT and all other Windows Operating Systems should use FAT32.

My question is if a computer is running Windows XP and has it's hard drive configured for NTFS, can this configuration cause the hard disk to have problems.

Thanks for your advice in advance.

No XP is better of running on a NTFS drive as more features will be enabled. Any o/s from NT/2000 onwards are better on NTFS.

If you want security on your files, then use NTFS. If your not concerned about security (home computer and your the only user) then you should consider FAT32 because is faster. The choice is entirely up to you. Both work fine.
