Hello,
I have a Dell Poweredge 2650 and whenever I reboot it takes about 15-20 minutes, with the bulk of the time on shutting down everything. It's a DC in my AD and has my Exchange on it. So I'm wondering what I can do to make the reboot quicker, as this is a bit ridiculous.
thanks for any tips.

Get another server, and seperate AD from Exchange :D

other than that, you're SOL

If you don't want to wait forever for your Exchange server to shut down go into Services and stop all of the Exchange services first. There are about 9 of them and they all start with "Microsoft Exchange"

Good Luck

Yes you can speed it up. You have to stop the exchange services before the computer shuts down. Here are some links that can help. I had a bat file that I ran before shutting down the computer and it stopped the services then shut the computer down. It saves a lot of time off the shutdown.

fantastic.
i used the batch file and it only took 10 minutes instead of 20. i was shutting down some of the exchange services, but not all of them.
thanks, much appreciated.
