I am getting a constant error message in my SYSLOG file of
a. famd: failed to set gid <invalid argument>
b. objectserver[575]: FAMNextEvent error: EXITING. please reboot
c. inetd[183]: /usr/etc/fam: exit status 0X100
d. famd: failed to set gid <invalid argument>
I am getting this error message about once a second in SYSLOG. This only occurs when I have an NFS export. I have installed SGI IRIX 5.3 Patch 166 and changed the polling time to 6 seconds and the problem remains. We have used this type of NFS connection for 6 years without a problem. I have a fresh installation of IRIX 5.3 on a larger drive than before and still have the same problem. I found one person with a similar problem, however after a week his problem just disappeared.
ANY IDEAS?
