failto param within CFMAIL

Ok, Im using the cfmail tag within CF7 and im trying to use the failto param. When I send it to an invalid address from outlook or cfmail using my domain as part of the email address I get the undeliverable in my inbox. When I send it to an invalid address with a different valid domain such as yahoo.com I get the undeliverable using outlook, but using cfmail it goes to the undeliverable folder within the CFusionMX7 directory.

Also can you use the failto param when spoolenable is set to yes.

My app is allowing users to send emails and I am trying to provide error handling for if a user enters an email address that doesnt exist.
