The scenario:

Main server of domain: domain.co.uk
RUnning windows 2000 server.

Exchange server 2003, running on a member server (also windows 2k). This server is called "exchange".

The SMTP server on the exchange server will accept mail for "username@exchange.domain.co.uk" - but not for "username@domain.co.uk"

What have done wrong?

Mark.

Go to your exchange Recipient Policies and change the Email Addresses to your wanted format.

Hi. Thanks for the reply - however the email addresses (Policy) under the default policy, under recipient policies are correct. They list <domainname.co.uk> and <domainname.com> - and not one lists <machineName>.<domainname.co.uk> etc

It seems, from trial and error, the Ex2k3 does not run properly on a Win2k member server. It does work fine once I DCPromo'd the server to DC status, then reinstalled.
