Failed Raid Controller

If my RAID Controller fails can it be simply swapped out or is any config needed

should just swap out
preferably with same type

You could lose the config of the array, We have tried this in the past, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. Our fingers are crossed for you. Should work by swapping out exact hardware as long as you don't have a bad drive also.

My experience during 3 year hardware servicing of compaq servers is that as long you exchange the defective raid controler by the same type you won't have a problem..
