I tried to reset a PIX 506e to factory-default. Version 6.3.(5) PDM: 3.0.(4) I entered the command: configure factory-default 192.168.123.254 255.255.255.0
However, it kept give me the following message: (192.168.123.254) is not allowed. it would leave no room for dhcp address pool.
I have disable dhcp already. When I typed show dhcpd command, there is nothing. Pleaes help!!!

Are you trying to erase the config? Why not just use "wr erase"? Then follow the prompts on reboot for your setup?

I have tried that already, but I still could not change the IP of the PIX to 192.168.123.254. I finally got to work by changing the subnet mask to 255.255.0.0 However, I don't like to do that. Do anyone know how to change the default IP without changing the subnet mask (255.255.255.0)?

I would contact Cisco about that. Looks like from the error the Pix believes the IP pool for DHCP would be above the 254 address. Looks like a bug to me. What version are you using?
