Hi!

I managato to restore a 2000 exchange database.

Problem is: this exchange 5.5 does not exist any longer.

Is there any way to "exmerge" file from priv.edb (basically I have to restore one mailbox)

I found original Exchange 5.5 server and NT 4 server installation CD.

What can I do?

Please help!!

Thank you in advance .

i hope you have a backup of the pri.edb and the edb.log files, if you want to restore a single mailbox, the best way is to to have a recovery server with all the same informaton as the server that was lost, you can use a different name since you are only doing a single restore.

after you build your recovery server, make sure to create a new site and dont join existing site and then from tape backup restore to the recovery server. make sure you restore with a full backup first, then use a differntial or incremental( depends on what you use)when restoring select erase exiting data.

after the restore is all done then create the account for the user that needs their mailbox restored on exchange and make sure to have outlook installed on the recovery server.

then just copy the .pst file and take it to the user's deskptop/laptop and copy to the correct path

hope this helps
