When I run "lpstat -a" on my HP9000 under HP-UX 10.20 I get a list of printers configured on the server.. and that's all good except that I see 2 additional printers that are not actively configured. These two printers were previously defined on the system but were deleted using the "Printers and Plotters" section of SAM and should not continue to show when the lpstat is run. What's weird is that although these 2 printers do not show up when I use SAM, they still some up as "accepting requests" when I run "lpstat -a"... How do I get rid of these ghost-printers ??

Perhaps these printers had prints queued at the time that you tried to delete the printer and this caused it to not be deleted properly.
Make sure that the printer is not at status printing in a lpstat, make sure that there are no prints queued (is /var/spool/lp/request/printername). Try stopping/starting the scheduler manually with #lpshut
#/usr/lib/lpsched (bear in mind that anything printing will be restarted - not popular with cheque runs)
You could try removing the printer manually (not through SAM)
You could try readding the printer and then deleting it.
On HP's site is a document called spoolkick, if all this fails, try reading that.
