Centrex is not cost effective on small to medium businesses. Most LEC's have a feature that you pay for on a "per use" charge. Remote call forward is what SBC Ameritech calls it. It works the same way as a conference call, but when you disconnect, the call stays connected.
Example: You get a call for your boss who is out. You press "recall" (Feat 03 on partner). You then get a second dial tone (like call waiting). You dial the number of your boss's cell, once he connects you hit recall again. You have the option to stay on the call or hang up. If you hang up the other 2 callers still stay connected. With all of the companies offering off premise voice mail, you get to know all this crap.
We have it in our office and it works great. That way when a cust calls into the office, the girls just transfer the caller to our Nextels instead of giving them our phone #'s. We use Peco and I think they call it Centrex Transfer. As a bonus, the partner messaging has the Centrex transfer options as selector codes.
Thanks guys for the input, that's what I thought but I was hoping that you could do it with the transfer key like on a Norstar. I did the Recall key and it did work, so I guess that will have to to do.
