External paging with M8X24 DS 1

I have converted from a Comdial to a M8X24 DS Meridian system,
When I connect my paging pair to yellow /slate as indicated the speakers are constsntly activated until I disconnect the pair, This worked fine with the Comdial sys. I am using a 20 watt Realistic amp for power to spkrs.any suggestions ?
Also same system M8X24 defaulted to square and is dialing at a pulse rate, would resetting to Hybrid correct this and start dialing at tone rate ? Thanks

no it's not the pulse dial option, you might repost this on a norstar forum, this is nortel pbx people, very few of us work on key systems, i have installed them, but it has been a decade or better

I have successfully installed the 8X24 DS system and mini voice mail, Why can't I change the # of rings that the Mini answers at, I have followed the manuall and have both incoming lines set to answer on 7 rings, but each time we get a call Mini converts to default and answers on first ring, Any suggestions ? Thanks
