I cannot get my external paging to work using the page out Tip and Ring pair wich is orange-violet and hooking it up in the T/P input port of a Inter-M PA-820 amplifier, see url for detail for the amp. I do get sound when paging if I hook up on a mic input instead.

Need to establish a couple of things, what feature code are you using to page? try having someone page while you monitor that pair for output on the violet/ orange pair with a butt set.

If this works then you may need a WMT-1 to match the impedance if your amplifier does not have an input for tel.

I use feature 62. there is an output because when i connect the page out paire in a mic input on the back of the amp it works.

There is an input for tel on the back of the amp. If you click on the link on my previous post you will see it. But when I connect the page out pair on the tel input it does not work.

you can put a butt set on the V/O Pair and you should hear the page out.

the mute may be turned too far and continually muting the tel input.

In keeping with paging systems....especially the thousands of Norstar paging hookups out there.....what's up with companies such as TJ Maxx and Best Buy completely abandoning their BCM's or other phone systems for headset systems? I am getting annoyed when I see a store has installed the latest BCM or other IP product and they don't use the phone system for anything other than phones calls into the store...... I posted on general telephony this question, but since Norstar has one of the best paging sound quality and ease of wiring to amplifiers, I thought I would post it here.

I can see certain advantages to headset paging, less over head noise and annoyance, when they have to page over and over for the same call gives the customer the feeling of poor customer service, and the workers can forget using that line I did not hear the page. Plus they can say things to each other that they would not normally say over the overhead paging.

Hi Ironhorse:

I definitely like the half and half concept....where some pages are announced to customers, while others are announced through headsets. I personally like to hear that phone system at work in a retail store, if its a properly installed paging system, like using a Norstar system with a TOA amplifier.

I don't like when they go overboard and start paging items overhead like "price check on kotex or trojans, 36 count" LOL.....they can be clean like Meijer who says "Name, 216" or Nordstrom where they only say "name and number.

hi curlycord

I do have that diagram but thanks anyways

What input should I use the plus, minus or ground for the tip and ring?
