We are running on Windows 2000 Server and are using Microsoft Exchange 2000. The e-mail software we are using on client machines is Microsoft ot look.

The thing is we are trying to be able to access our e-mails off site.

I managed to get our public IP address from our ISP but that is as far as i have gone. What do i do next. I tried going into exchange help etc but i think i need a starting point...

Anybody??????

If you want to provide just email support, look into providing it through Internet Explorer. Exchange does provide support through IIS (web based email). You could front a webserver on your public address (redirect http and https ports to your webserver if you are using netword address translation). Your users will be able to access their email from any IE browser and no configuration of the client required. If you wish to provide more than just email support, like access to other company resources like shares, I'd consider going the VPN route (see Remote Routing and Access or RRAS). Once the vpn is established, users would have access to mail, shares, etc. just as if they were plugged into the LAN. Note: if users are dialing into the internet, expect them to complain its not as fast as your company LAN (they will want YOU to fix this believing that it's your fault).
