I have several Windows 2000 servers that have a single 16G hard drive.
I have 32G hard drives thatI would like to put in place and use software mirroring.
The drives are presently on Basic disks.
Is there any safe way to extend the partition of the original drives?
One of the machines I would like to do this on is the PDC emulator and RID master, so I need to do something safe.
I have looked into mirroring onto the 32G drive in slot 1, breaking the mirror, then puting another 32G drive in slot 0 and re-establishing the mirror.
This will work, but I end up with 2 16G partitions on the mirror set and not able to resize the partition because it is a boot partition.
Anyone done this?

Have you tried this?
Copy the image of one of the 16gb drives to a 32 gb drive.
Change the 32gb drive to dynamic
resize the partition to 32gb
add another 32gb drive
enable mirroring ....

If you have two 32gb drives, try this. install a 32gb drive along side the 16mb drive to back up to. Perform a full backup of everything to the 32mb drive. remove the 16gb and 32gb backup drive (put 16gb drive in a safe place, it still holds everything). Install the other 32gb drive where the 16gb drive was. Put a fresh copy of 2k server on it. reattach the 32gb drive used for backup and perform a full restore. You should now have everthing that was on the 16gb drive now running as a server on the 32gb drive. You have not yet endangered anything on the 16gb drive in any way. Once you know your server is up and running, this free's up the 16gb drive to be used as a backup for the next server that you wish to move to 32gb.
