Exporting video to VHS

If I have a video on my computer I created in MS Movie Maker, what would I need to export the video to a VHS? What would I put into my computer to hook into a VCR?

We put our meetings on the local public access channel, and they can only take VHS, not DVD's, so I need to find a way to export the video.

You would need to have some form of "video out" capability on your PC to connect to the video in on a vcr. i.e. like a s-video out connection or simple RCA video out, In addition if there is audio involved ..the appropriate audio outs.

Many video cards have this video connection and most sound cards also have audio out,(this includes onboard audio)

once you have this just a matter of connecting these outs to a VCR's ins.

If more assistance needed...post back with some hardware particulars.

I know this doesn't help with your immediate problem but might help in the future... You (or someone in your group) needs to talk with the folks at the public access channel and remind them that it is 2006. VCRs and VHS tapes are history.

Yes, I play a DVD on a portable player with the A/V out connected to a component input on a VHS deck. I can see the picture on a monitor connected to the outputs of the VHS deck which allows me to control both the player and the VHS deck. It doesn't produce the best quality in the world (it IS VHS), but it works.

I was afraid about the copycat circuitry. So one who produces home DVDs can move them onto a VHS for the grandaddy who doesn't have a DVD player yet. Good to know.

I kinda go about this in a strange way when I make a family dvd to vcr tape for some of the elder people in my family that have no understanding of dvd. But can work a VCR.

When I take the video from my camcorder and transfer it to the pc, I have rather large video files (.avi). Well I picked up this tiny little device called Recorder2 it was actually made where you can playor record from/to mp4 and uses a sony mem stick or a compact flash microdrive.

Needless to say I get the avi and convert it to mp4 format, with (video 9) freeware its main purpose is to convert videos to the psp, but you can select some larger sizes as well with it.

So basically I take a .avi turn it into a .mp4, then put it on the stick/microdrive then stick that into the recorder2 device, then simply play it back (from recorder2) to the vcr to record. sounds like alot of work but the end quality is very good.
