exporting to anything Generates empty file

I've got a problem concered with exports from within my application executable. I have Cr8 and Vb6 for development and win200. When i export data from report from within my application to some format then the crystal reports export generates a file with the name i specify but when i open that exported file it does not have any data in it (just a blank file with 0 bytes). But the strange thing is that when export the same report from crystal report designer that i use to design report works fine i.e the export works from the crystal report designer but not from within my executable. If there was any problem of missing export dlls then both applications should produce the same result as both my exe and crystal Report designer are on the same environment. One other strange thing is that i m using win2000 but on WinNt it works fine ie both export from my application and from CR8 designer are working.
So it is also OS dependant problem as well.
One thing i export using the normal export button on the toolbar and not the export object.
Can any body give me help in this regard bcz i need it urgently.

From within your VB app are you performing:

reportname.action 1

to print to the window?

If so, does the report generate properly in the window display?
