Exporting or Saving as HTML

Wanted to make my website. I'm just starting out so I thought I would go the HTML format. I was hoping i could export or save as HTML.......I take it that's not the case in Indesign??
Please tell me I'm wrong......

ID is primarily used for designing pieces that will be printed. Not websites.

I know that's not it's main purpose, but it would have been a nice feature. I'll just use open office or composer to make my website. No big deal.

You see, that's where Quark went wrong. They spent so long dicking around trying to make it be a web authoring tool as well as a page layout tool, they missed the boat with OSX and allowed ID to get streets ahead. Personally I am very pleased that Adobe were sensible and kept ID for making pages not websites. There are plenty of other programs out there far better suited e.g. Dreamweaver, GoLive and even FrontPage. But if you want to be a purist and create it in your own HTML, why on earth would you be looking at ID anyway?

I'm just learning the whole make your own website thing. Just thought it would be easy to use I guess. I'm just going to use Mozilla Composer. No big deal, just wondered if it was a feature in ID. Shows what I know about the whole thing.

InDesign 2 was the last version with direct HTML export. InDesign CS1 and above use the 'Package for GoLive' function. This bundles images and text so that you can re-compose the content in GoLive. If you have Acrobat Professional, you can take a PDF file from InDesign and export that as HTML.

Allowing any program to automatically generate HTML is a risky proposition. Ideally, you should compose your copy outside of any program and then port that same copy to a print program like InDesign, and a web authoring program or online content management system.
