exporting fireworks to dreamweaver

I have created a webpage in fireworks and I exported it. When it comes into dreamweaver it works nice however, I can not fiqure out how to add text or anything else to the page.
It is a typical look, border all around white in the middle.
The white area is where I thought I could add a cell to and put text into it. thank you for your thoughts.

Did you use slices inside of Fireworks? Each Slice is a table cell. If the center cell is white and you are unable to place text on it, chances are that there is a white image there. Delete the image and add your text.
