Just wondering if anyone else has encountered a certain problem in Premiere 6 when exporting filmstrips; when a filmstrip is exported, the resulting file shows black horizontal lines. While changing the export frame size to "4:3" aspect ratio fixes the problem, my other computer manages to export the same filmstrip with "4:3 aspect ratio" unchecked. Both systems run Win2k and the same version of Premiere. I've checked both systems and I can only make a wild guess that the motherboard in the "unworking" system is doing something funky to Premiere :p. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

If anyone needs a pic of what the lines look like, I'll post one.

Sorry I didn't find a solution to this problem other than using a workaround. It probably isn't the best way but with time restrictions and lack of good support from Adobe, I went with this: Use 4:3 aspect ratio then modify the frame size in "Special Processing" by cropping 3 pixels off the top and bottom of the frame. That's basically how I managed to export in "720x480" without those annoying black lines. If you do find a better solution, please post it.

when I export it juts gives me an all black screen do you knwo what the matter is?

To Edward, since I was forced to crop a total of 6 pixels, I suppose the exported file lost some image data, if that's what you're wondering. But for the project that I was doing at the time, the loss of those pixels were negligible. I can't give you my exact settings since I don't have the project files on hand as of this moment. The reason for only cropping the top and bottom is because at 4:3 aspect, the new image dimensions are 720x486. The project was to be burned onto a DVD therefore I brought it down to 720x480.

To Anselmo666, I don't recall changing any other settings besides checking "4:3 aspect" and cropping 3 pixels from the top and bottom of the frames. One other method that for some reason seemed to work (at least for some files) involved going to Clip->Video Options->Field Options and selecting one of the options there. Try changing the settings one at a time and see if your image shows up. But again, the cropping of the pixels worked the best for me so I just stuck with that.

You might also want to try getting Adobe's latest update for Premiere.

What kind of system are you running and what kind of files are you trying to export?

Ok I managed to find one of my earlier posts with some settings written down:

"The filmstrips are 720x480 and I export them to AVI using the standard 48kHz "Microsoft DV (NTSC)" compressor, "D1/DV NTSC (0.9)" Pixel Aspect Ratio, "29.97" Frame Rate, and "720x480" Frame Size"

Make sure the frame dimensions don't change when you go from film->filmstrip and then filmstrip->film.
