Hi,

I have several machines with Netscape 6.2 installed on them, I need to get the details of so I can reformat and reinstall onto the drives, only problem is I can't export the address books.

Please don't say " goto address book and choose Export" !

Export Is not there.

Any help will be gratefully recieved.

Thanks in advance.

With a bit of research I have found the following solution:-

Example is on an XP system

Browse in explorer to :-

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\PROFILENAME\RANDOM NAME.slt\Mail\pop.youremailserver.com

2 files for INBOX, SENT, DRAFTS etc.
ie: inbox, inbox.msf

Just copy these into the new folder in a similar location on the new build to retain the emails in INBOX and do the same for SENT, DRAFTS etc.

(Or Just copy the whole MAIL directory.)

In the randomly named folder that MAIL was in just copy abook.mab for the address book and history.mab for the history.

In Netscape 7 they've actually added a proper EXPORT option.

Ever wish you could convert the address database from one email
program's format to another? Dawn is a free utility that makes
it possible. It's rather spartan main interface could be more
intuitive, but luckily it can be run in a much friendlier wizard
mode. You can use Dawn to convert data between
Netscape Communicator 4.x, Netscape Navigator 3.x,
Internet Explorer/Outlook Express/Windows Address Book,
MS Outlook 98/2000, Juno, WordPerfect 8.x, Eudora 3.x and 4.x,
and Pegasus Mail 3.x. (It can't help you with Netscape 6, though.)
Dawn should also work with other programs that can use/import/export
LDAP/LDIF, Comma Separated Value (CSV), plain text, or one-per-line
or comma-separated formats or store addresses in a text file suitable
for extraction.

Further experimentation has shown that it doesn't matter what folder you put these into as long as it is in a users profile. This way you can move one persons email etc into another persons profile.

NOTE: This will not merge the data rather overwrite it.
