I want to provide VB code that will allow users to simply click a button and export an Access report to a .TIF file that will ultimately be pulled into an Excel spreadsheet.

I will have two files that will be placed on one ledger-sized spreadsheet in Excel, and I want to make it as user-friendly for my non-technical users as I can.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the information. Is there anyway, then, to export the file as any file extension that will retain the integrity of the report (style, format, etc...) automatically?

I can do it manually, but I would like to automate this if possible.

Thanks.

Not that will allow you to treat the output as data.
All the methods I know use a graphical format to some extent.
You can look here for the best free utilities, but I don't think they will give you what you want.

You could mess around with exporting .rtf files and try to get a resemblance of formatting ....

In that case I would export the access data to excel and use Excel VBA (controlled from Access) to apply the formatting you desire.

Thanks for your assistance.

I actually don't want the users to be able to edit the data/report. Therefore, exporting to a graphical format would be perfect.

So, if anyone has experience with VB that will accomplish that, I would be grateful.

Thank you.

If you don't want editing then why does it have to go into XL?
You have the built-in snp format which allows users to look at reports; or you can get cheap (?free) add-ins to create pdf files from Access reports.

Thanks lupins46.

I am exporting to Excel to accomplish what I can't accomplish in Access.

Namely, I want to have a ledger sized paper contain two Access reports that has one header and footer span the entire length of the landscaped ledger page.

The way I can accomplish this is to have users utilize an Excel spreadsheet that has the header and footer and then import the graphical objects (.tif) and size them so that they will fit.

Can't you create an Access Report with 2 sub reports to do this? The header and footer can be part of the main report.

You can then export the report in .snp format and people can check it out with SnapView.

Thanks 123FakeSt.

I'll give that a try!

Another path you might consider is the cheap (almost free) PDF999 product. This product creates a virtual printer driver that outputs Access reports to a PDF file.

Product can't be beat for the price.
We also use the PDFEdit995 product that allows us to automate PDF production (somewhat).
