Hi all! I am trying to create a pdf from a large Quark document using Mac Quark 6.5. The file size is 24" x 48". When I try to export as a pdf, I'm told I can't export file sizes bigger than 45". No problem... except... I don't see where I can reduce the size of the pdf. In Acrobat, I know I can tell it to export at 50% or whatever, but I don't see those setting in Quark. I've tried several other things that haven't worked. Any ideas? Thanks.

Don't export...
I always...always, and I hope most proffessionals, Print their file to a Postscript first then use Distiller to creat the PDF.

If you do it this way the in the File>Print menu, under the setup tab
reduce or enlage. This will be the answer to all you problems and maybe more.

Yes, when I'm creating a pdf for print, that's how I do it. However, I can't afford Acrobat for both my Mac and my PC. So I only have it on the PC. Which, in this case, was my problem. I am just going to have to buckle down and purchase it. Ugh. In this particular instance, I was just trying to create a low res pdf to send a sample off to someone. It just struck me as odd that Quark wouldn't allow me to resize the pdf I was exporting.

That's why I always bang on about making Postscript files first.
Because you already have a high res file (.PS) which can be distilled to high res or Low res. You can simply distill to screen optimised to get the low res to send off for approval. Once it's approved then you only have to distille the Postscript again using the Press Optimised to get a high res PDF.
And you didn't have to open the Quark file again.
