I have set Explorer to use details view and then applied these settings to all folders. Other settings are "use Windows classic folders" and "Open each folder in the same window".

When I drill down, all sub-folders still use icon view. The most likely cause for this behaviour is a group policy setting. Has anyone seen this problem before?

Regards.

If you want the same view for every folder try this first, open any Explorer window and go via Tools/ Folder Options/ View and apply your current view to all folders.

If you want different views for different folders Open any Windows Folder Click on Tools/ Folder Options/ View. Select from the dropdown options "remember each folder's view setting".

You can also try this fix to see if it will hold your settings.

Sometimes windows XP forgets it's folder view settings.

Here is the solution.

Backup these RegKeys.

1:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU]

2:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags]

After that you must delete them.

Restart windows to take effect.

Now you can change each folder and the setting will stay.

Thanks for your reply. I am familiar with both of the fixes you mention, unfortunately, they are not applicable in this case. The problem I am having appears to be related to the "Apply to all folders" button not working.

As an example, if I manually set a folder to details view, this folder then retains the detail view setting between sessions. When I try to use the "Apply to all folders" button, this action is ignored but the original folder still retains the details view.

This problem becomes apparent after a group policy is applied.

Regards
