Explain please / Data Store and Print Drivers, etc.

Hello everyone... I need a refresher on this...
My Environment:
Citrix MF XPe, FR2, SP2
We do not use the 'Auto Create' option; instead we use printer scripts to connect to shared printers off a Print server...

My question is: In my CMC I see the printers and Drivers on the left- What role does this play in the drivers that are actually on each MetaFrame? Aren't I correct in saying that the printer drivers are stored on the MetaFrames?? Does the CMC just allow me to manage them??? Just some basics would help me out in regards to this.... What if I wanted to install a new printer? -where does the driver get installed (on the local MetaFrame, right?)...

Hi,

You are correct, the MF data store holds information about each server and the printers and drivers installed.

Pick a server and install the required printer driver, I install it to LPT1 and then delete it.

Then in CMC, pick that server and find the printer driver and you can then replicate it to all the other servers in your farm. This can fail so some printer drivers will need manually installing on each server!
