I have an IP Office that can´t recognize an expansion module.
Doesn ´t appear on the config when I plugged in.
Should I tried connecting to a different expansion port ? Done, but no expansion module on the config.
Is there an official method to make this expansion works ?

Power off control unit.
Connect expansion module to control unit. Power expansion module.
Power control unit.
Log in and that should be all.
But not always.

Cheers.

Special prize to the first person to say "blue cable".

Next prize for asking what kind of IP Office and final prize for asking what type of expansion module.

There are other questions.

I know it makes me unpopular (I really don't care) but the probability of the correct answer is somewhat proportional to the information supplied to begin with.

what lihts are showing on the phone 30?

Broken port on the module?

Flashing green means not seen by the IPO.
Try a different port and different cable (just only for testing a normal cat5e)

When it does not work then the port on the module itself is broken.
You can check this by using the DTE port on the module and look for the all kind of messages trying to connect to the IPO.

The odd thing is that on a different IP Office this module appears on the config after rebooting the control unit.

What Firmware version is the IPO on

V4 series required an additional license to enable the expansion ports.

failing this you have a faulty IPO.

R5 should be ok for the expansion ports
i suspect you have a faulty IPO.

The DTE port should be avoided.

It should only been configured when the unit is absolutely dead & nothing else works.

your module works on another system so the unit is good.

The DTE port will do nothing +ve for you in these circumstances and is more likely to turn your working module into a door stop.

YOU HAVE A FAULTY IPO!

IPGuru, the port can show you messages which could lead you in the right direction.

It is not only meant for defaulting it but it also gives output.
I have seen a couple of units with fried ports (lightning) which showed that they could not connect to the IPO.

It will help finding the cause.

Peter I know the DTE port can be use full but the OP has already confirmed the module works on another system,

if it works on another IPO but not his he probably has a faulty port or ports on the IPO & he needs to replace the IPO.

if this user starts experimenting with the DTE port commands he will simply brick his module.

Indeed when it work on a different IPO then you know the unit is OK.
Preventing the use of the DTE port will not learn you anything :)
I think it is useful knowing how it works.
This gives me more confidence when i really need it in a stressful situation.

even more usefully knowing how it breaks

I have only needed the DTE port on an exp module a handful of times. I only go there when I already believe a new unit is needed and things could not possibly get any worse

I have used it to default control units more times than I have had hot dinners.

I have also had to talk engineers through firmware recovery countless times because they have reached for the DTE cable unnecessarily.
