After upgrading Windows 2000 Pro to Windows XP Pro, the expanded Control Panel menu, found under Settings on the Start Menu, is not sorted, and ignores any repositioning of the items on the menu.

Sorting the Start Menu via properties has no effect. Have seen this on multiple machines that have been upgraded.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks.

Wow. It's the simplest solutions that hide themselves so well.

BCastner-- The View setting you suggested is only for the Control Panel window, and is not available, nor has any effect on the Control Panel expanded menu in the Start Menu. But, Thank you.

Turns out that simply right-clicking on any item in the expanded Control Panel menu provides a "Sort by name" selection. Clicking this instantly resorted the menu.

Go figure. Case closed. :)
