expand excel cells to show subcells???? 1

not sure how to explain what i am looking for, my supervisor received a spreadsheet for the Sarbox audit and it show subjects in cells with the + sign to show it will expand to show what i call sub-cells referring back to the original subject, he wants to know how that is done, and i don't know, so i need your assistance.

It's probaly the Group feature -- Data/Group and Outline...

The Subtotal Feature also uses Grouping -- Data/Subtotal.

It's hard to know for sure how the grouping got there without examining the workbook.
