EXMERGE fails exporting disabled user accounts... 1

Now maybe I already have the answer to my question here, but I thought I'd ask the experts on the forums to see what they think.

We've got several terminated employees with disabled user accounts on our system. I want to archive their mailboxes and then delete the user accounts out of the system. When I try to run exmerge on the disabled user accounts, I receive a MAPI error message and the exmerge fails. I tried it on several active user accounts, and the exmerge succeeds.

I've seen several people say that the mailboxes have to be viewable on the GAL for them to be exmerged, so I unhid them from the GAL, yet I receive the same error message. Am I going to have to enable the user accounts before I can successfully exmerge their mailboxes out of the system?

Enable the accounts and change the passwords on them, then exmerge them out.
