Executing .cgi files using apache

Hell0,
I have .cgi files. However when I run them on the apache server, instaed of getting executed, the contents present in the file are getting displayed.

I guess I may need to change something in the httpd.conf file(am not sure though).

Could anyone tell me the way I solve this problem.
