Execute software from hyperlink click

Hi,

I'm making an active desktop webpage to get access to all of my favourite websites and software directly from my desktop. The website thing is not a problem, but how can I execute software on my pc when clicking a hyperlink? Do I need some ActiveX component or does it just work with some tricks?

actually speaking u cannot access files on client's system (for security purposes), but u can use JS file component (depends upon browsers)...

Known is handfull, Unknown is worldfull

Do you have any idea where I can find information on this? I searched for a few hours now and still didn't find what I'm looking for.
