Executable Problem

Have been running a VFP 6.0 under Windows 95 for years with minimal problems. Have finally got around to writing a replacement for Windows 2000 with VFP8. Problem is that I cannot seem to share files. The current system places the executable on a shared (but restricted) network drive. The data sits on a network drive which IS tells me is shareable.

I can log in on all machines and can run a test form from all machines at the same time if it has no associated data environment. I can open up a form with a data environment on one machine but if I try and open up another form with a de from the menu nothing happens. I can do all the things I expect except have it do what a multi-user system is supposed to do.

Assuming the drive is shareable I've obviously done something wrong. Would appreciate any thoughts.

Many thanks

Hi rgw,

In Tools->Options Data tab, is Exclusive checked? Also Reprocess has to be enabled.

Rgw,

if I try and open up another form with a de from the menu nothing happens.

When you say "open", do you mean open in the form designer, or run the form?

Also, what do you mean when you say "nothing happens? What do you see on the screen? Is there an error message?

Mike

Thanks for your replies but I believe the problem, for once, does not lie with me but with that directory not being shareable. Thought about it overnight and decided to pop in a dbf from the current data and things worked fine. Will ask the IS people to take another look.

many thanks
