.EXE on the server vs the workstation - performance? 1

We currently have our Win98 workstations running the .exe's stored on our Windows NT server. We are using ACCPAC Advantage Enterprise v5. Performance is very poor. I would install the exe's locally on each workstation if it would make a significant difference. Does anyone have any insight as to whether this really helps, or is there something else I should do that would improve performance. Thanks
 
I've heard that speeds things up... remember windoze is designed to be sexy not fast and can't touch the speed of character based systems...
