Excluding www off the URL

How can I set my DNS so that mysite.com comes up without having to type

http://www.mysite.com?

Put in a A record for mysite.com that points to your

http://www server.

Your

http://www server

should be able then (with rewrite rules) rewrite mysite.com to

http://www.mysite.com.

Is the IP address for mysite.com the same as your A record for www?

I am looking for the same information, We have Nortel netid as our DHCP and DNs server. Would the same answer also work for me, or with Netid is there something different I would have to do.

I have added the entries as suggested ... I am a couple of days away from hosting my own site locally and really hope that all goes without a problem.

DNS is not my thing! All I have to do now is change godaddy to point to me and hopefully, there will be a site to see.

dkoch, the theory is the same but not familiar with netid. See if you can add an A record to your domain.
