Hi

I'm just adding in a new exchange server into my backup job and I wonder if there is some files and/or directories from the exchange areas that I should exclude from the job since I will back up the exchange part using the Exchange Agent (Database level)

They will be excluded by ARCserve automatically after you installed the Exchange Agent. There is no need to apply a filter manually.

Hmm. sure? I gave that a try just now and i got a failure:

Information 21.03.2007 09:42:58 1026 4 Failed to open file <C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA\tmp.edb>. RC=32, The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

But that's maybe ok I guess.

Thanks for your reply!

When both the Exchange DB Agent and the Client Agent are installed on the Exchange Server the Client Agent should automatically skip the Exchange files.

The above message is not a problem in the sense that the file is backed up as part of the Exchange DB Agent backup. The message is a problem in the sense that the session is marked as incomplete as a result so it makes it harder to check on the status of the job.

Try updating ARCserve and agents.
