I have a remote system that uses a vpn connection to check for e-mail and to retreive files from the network. She uses outlook for the interface. It has worked for a year but has stopped connecting the exchange server on the first try. It asks to retry and then connected but says there are errors in the view and is using the default. I go to view on the gray bar and click on it and try to change the view but it locks up. I have removed office, ran the cleaner program to get all office files off the computer, and reinstalled. It still comes up with the error. I have used the repair option on the office disk also but it didn't fix it either. It gave give me the error that a program had damaged the files but I have re-installed since then.

Thank you in advance for any help.

try the following:
1.- have user ping the xchange server
2.- have user do a ping -a using the ip address to resolve it
3.- remove the service and add it again. make sure it validates server and user.
4.- check firewall for changes
5.- if all else fails, remove IP on the user's computer and reinstall it. I've seen a lot of weird stuff happen with Outlook and they get fixed when IP is removed/reinstalled.

Hope this helps.
