Exchange Server in DMZ

Hi,

Can I have the following setup, is it a good one, and if not: why?

2 Exchange servers in the same site:
- 1 on private network, containing the data store
- 1 on DMZ, purely acting as an SMTP and IMAP relay between the outside world and the private network

Should I be looking at another platform for the DMZ gateway?

Any suggestions are appreciated!
